72” Sumner Veneer Chipper

We purchased this chipper to install in our veneer mill. We have spent 4 months completely refurbishing this machine so that every bearing, sprocket, and part is new except the paint.

The address where the machine is located is 3939 F.M. 347 North of Rusk, Texas and 5 miles South of Jacksonville, Texas.

Customer may fly into TYR (Tyler, Texas), which is located 40 miles from M & H and is an approximate 1 hour drive. DFW Airport (Dallas/Ft. Worth) is approximately 140 miles OR 3 hours. We do not require any advance notice for an inspection, but one week is preferred.

The machine is not in operation. After it was reconditioned we hooked up power to test all motors and confirm rotations. Our maintenance personnel are available to answer your questions or call Pat McCown at 903-521-3409 or Barry Hughes at 903-683-2788.

The general mechanical condition of the machine at present is Completely Reconditioned.

Machine has a 24 ½” x 6” feed spout into a rotating disc with 6 knives. The chipper will accept large quantities of veneer and solid wood up to ½” thick. It includes a complete feed works with 7.5 HP motor and gear reducer to pull an in feed conveyer belt of up to 20 feet long. The infeed also has a 5 HP high speed motor. The recommended 150 HP main motor pulled 55 amps at 440 volts under no load during our test run. The chipper will cut chips from ½” to ¾” in size. The only parts that we do not have is the long in feed conveyer which is normally custom fabricated on site and the hydraulic feed works lift. Our total investment in this chipper is $36,375.08.

Note this machine includes a complete electrical panel.

Receipts for all new parts and Sumner Bulletin 83-2 come with the machine.

Price does not include loading onboard truck. The machine weighs approximately 16,000 pounds and can be disassembled so that it is not oversize.
