A native of Dialville and a graduate of Jacksonville High School, Mr. Yarbrough has worked for the company for over 28 years. Allen currently serves as Finished Goods and Transportation Manager.

Mr. Yarbrough was chosen out of seven nominations. Some of the remarks on Allen’s nominations include, "Excellent Attitude", "A Team Player", and "His attitude is an example that we should all allow to be seen through us to our customers." When Allen received his award, he said, "I thank God for leading me to my job at HMC. I thank HMC for my job that I can provide for my family. I thank my wife Jo Ann and children, Marty, Becky, and Pam for making my life complete and always supporting me. I’m thankful for my father and mother, Allen and Lena Yarbrough for physical life and my God for eternal life."

Charles Dial began operating Halbert Mill Co. when Pete Halbert went into the iron-ore business in 1948. Charles helped the company grow by construction of a new mill at the site that is now M&H Crates. He worked with the steel strapping manufacturers and Acme Brick Company to develop the "cube" style of brick package in the early 1960’s. This package has become the industry standard throughout most of America and HMC products for brick packaging are shipped nationwide.

As demand for Halbert Mill products grew throughout the brick industry, Charles traveled to brick plants throughout the southwest to teach and take care of his customers. Charles constantly focused on meeting customers’ needs from Halbert Mill.

Mr. Dial built his reputation on providing a quality product and unmatched service. He was known and respected by many brick makers and his death in 1977 was a significant loss to the industry.

Allen continues in Charles’ footsteps by encouraging fellow employees and displaying an excellent attitude to customers. Halbert Mill is very proud to have Mr. Yarbrough as the first recipient of the ?Charles Dial award. Allen Yarbrough and Charles Dial worked together from 1972 through 1977, although Allen knew Charles as he grew up in Dialville.

The Charles Dial award was established by the Halbert Mill Company Board to recognize one employee each year for their accomplishments in Sales and Customer Service. Allen Yarbrough is the first recipient of this prestigious annual award.

The award includes a brick and glass trophy with the words "Providing Sales, Service and Support with Commitment and Dedication to Halbert Mill Company Customers." He also received a check for $1000.00.
